Hi, I'm Greg.

I'm an engineer who learns by building. When I want to understand something, I take it apart, rebuild it at a smaller scale, and then try to explain it to someone starting from zero.

Lately, that has meant language models. I run them on my own hardware, test how they behave on real tasks, and turn what I learn into films, labs and notes. The first result is How a Large Language Model Works, a 79-minute animated film, with 30 interactive labs and a companion workbook.

This site is where I publish that work, along with occasional technical posts on whatever I'm building.

About this site

It's a static site built with Astro and served from Cloudflare Workers. Posts are Markdown files. Films stream as adaptive HLS from a separate media Worker, so a phone on a slow connection gets 720p and a large screen gets 1440p. The colours come from the film's own palette, where each colour marks one concept.
